Organic Agriculture

Organic agriculture is defined as an integrated farming system that is intended to produce crop and livestock to preserve natural resources, support animal health and welfare, and avoid most synthetic materials. Organic agriculture can contribute to meaningful socioeconomic and ecologically sustainable development, especially in developing countries.

Organic food often have more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, than their conventionally-grown counterparts and people with allergies to foods, chemicals, or preservatives often find their symptoms lessen or go away when they eat only organic foods. The difference between organic and non-organic (conventional) food has to do with how the food is produced. For example, organic food like vegetables, fruit, eggs, milk and meat is produced without: Synthetic (human-made) pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
